I stayed in touch, helped the team with everything from flyer drops to door knocking and, when the opportunity came to officially join them, I grabbed it with both hands. What Real Estate Has Taught Me One of the biggest lessons I learned early was that an appraisal does not automatically become a listing. Meeting a homeowner and discussing their property is often only the beginning. They may be preparing to sell in three months, six months or even further down the track. That can be difficult when you are starting out, but it teaches you to focus less on the immediate result and more on building genuine relationships, staying consistent and providing value wherever you can. Rejection is naturally part of the job too. Whether you are making calls or knocking on doors, not everyone will want to have a conversation—and that is understandable.
