This will be my fifth general election since I started in real estate. Over the previous four, I got used to hearing a familiar line in the months leading up to polling day: "We'll wait and see what happens after the election." It made sense. An election brings a degree of uncertainty, and when you're making one of the biggest financial decisions of your life, holding off until the dust settles can feel like the sensible move. I'd hear it from sellers weighing up when to list and from buyers deciding when to commit. This time around, I've barely heard a squeak about it. What's happening on the coalface As we moved into September, there was a noticeable shift.

Listings picked up, and our own numbers reflect that. We've launched seven marketing campaigns this month, and we have another seven listings signed up to launch over the next six to eight weeks. That second batch will hit the market right in the thick of the campaign, and some will straddle polling day itself. In previous election years, I'd expect at least a few of those conversations to include some hesitation about timing. So far, the election has barely registered. A campaign that hasn't caught fire Some of this could simply reflect how people are feeling about the election more broadly. I'm a bit of a political junkie. I usually lap up everything an election campaign brings, from the leaders' debates to the late-night results coverage.
